This book recreates the agony of a whole people in the grand design of the international epic which was made popular by men like Andre Malraux, Maw Tun and Sholokov.The tearing up of a whole landscape, the decimation of the lives of millions of people, the rape and torture are appeased in a catharsis in the Tolstoyan manner by this novelist.I feel that no other book has entered the interior of Bangladesh torment with the intensity of this novel.
