Royal Persian Manuscripts introduces people to the rich Persian (Iranian) art from around the late 1522- 1565. It covers five basic areas- The Shah- Nama of Firdaswi Collected works of Mir'Ali Shir Nawa'i Khalsa of Nizami Haft Awrang of Jami The author is an expert in the field and has done much to encourage to look at Persian Art. The Shan- Nama is the , " Book of Kings" probably begun in 1522 by Shan Isma'il as a present for his eldest son , Prince Tahmasp . This is illustrated by 10 plates showing the court and other scenes They are in beautiful colours and the illuminations are dazzling. The colour reproduction is good for the times (especially for its inexpensive price) The text is informative.
